Restoring antique doors

Custom door frame also known as Syd's most favorite project ever

This is the door frame that I am replicating. This door frame is made from one solid timber, with channels cut in to take the little bead detail you can see here. This is the back door of the house.

The front door was replaced, and the proportions were all wrong. In order to make the jamb, I had to glue up two boards to mimic the large timber (top photo). In the two lower images, the channels are begun. Today I will let in a small bead. Keep posted for the finished product!

Custom door trim

A brand new front door for some very nice clients. The new door will be installed Monday.

We got our Fearless Leader in the field for a few days, showing us some of his old school Ice Age carpentry tricks. It was great, and helped the field meet our schedule for the 405 N 23rd St open house!

Termite damaged door frame

The new frame has already been milled out of fir. We'll reinstall the antique door. We thought we'd be able to save the trim, but it turns out the paint was the only thing holding it together.

Through the doorway is Ronnie Gray, our favorite plumber.
