Breathing New Life Into Old Homes

Ok, we can't actually take credit for the baby birds in a nest next to our access set up, but we have been diligent to cause no harm to the nest or cute birds.

We've been working on the cornice where we had to replace rotten boards and trim. And make sure we still have our downspouts in place.

We've also been installing shiny new brass sashlocks on windows. Things are coming together (like the sashes).

Sean and Cody are finally taking down some of our access for the cornice work we completed.

Faked out beam using antique pine

Quite difficult to glue up warped antique pine, but the goal is to hide a steel lintel in an 1815 home. Once installed, no one will know this isn't a solid 3" by 16" hunk of tree, just like the old lintels in the rest of the house.

"Working with renovation contractor"

David Cooley, RBVA's president, is hosting a presentation on "Working with a Renovation Contractor". This is a program presented jointly by: Better Housing Coalition & Storefront for Community Design.
